ইংরেজি ব্যাকরণে Adjective খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ একটি অংশ। অনেক শিক্ষার্থী Identification of Adjective করতে গিয়ে বিভ্রান্ত হয়। কিন্তু সঠিক নিয়ম জানলে এটি খুব সহজ। স্কুল পরীক্ষা, ভর্তি পরীক্ষা কিংবা চাকরির প্রস্তুতিতে Adjective Identification Rules জানা অত্যন্ত জরুরি।

Identification of Adjective কী?
Identification of Adjective মানে হলো একটি বাক্যে সেই শব্দটি খুঁজে বের করা যা কোনো Noun বা Pronoun-কে বর্ণনা করে।
উদাহরণ:
She is a beautiful girl.

এখানে beautiful এবং big হলো Adjective, কারণ তারা Noun (girl, house) কে বর্ণনা করছে।
সহজভাবে বললে, “যে শব্দ Noun-এর গুণ বা অবস্থা প্রকাশ করে, সেটাই Adjective।”
Adjective Identification Rules সহজভাবে
১. Noun এর আগে বসে
বেশিরভাগ ক্ষেত্রে Adjective Noun-এর আগে বসে।
উদাহরণ:

এখানে red এবং smart হলো Adjective।
২. Linking Verb এর পরে বসে
কখনও কখনও Adjective Linking Verb (is, am, are, was, were) এর পরে বসে।
উদাহরণ:

The sky is blue.

She is happy.
এখানে blue এবং happy হলো Adjective।
৩. “কেমন?” প্রশ্ন করলে উত্তর Adjective
বাক্যে “কেমন?” প্রশ্ন করলে যে শব্দটি উত্তর দেয়, সেটি সাধারণত Adjective।

যে Adjective গুণ বা বৈশিষ্ট্য প্রকাশ করে।

Common Mistakes in Identification of Adjective
১. Adverb কে Adjective ভাবা

He runs fast.এখানে fast Verb কে বর্ণনা করছে, তাই এটি Adverb।
২. Linking Verb এর পরে Adjective না চেনা

She is tired.এখানে tired হলো Adjective।
৩. Noun এর সাথে মিল না বোঝা

A beautiful flower → beautiful হলো Adjective, flower হলো Noun।
